چکیده
The mainterlance of large infor~ilat, ion systerlls involves cor~t i~i i~or ts clesigti ruoclifications to designs in response to evolving business corlclitio~is or cllarlging user req~~irerrler~ts. Because of the con~plexity barrier associated with engineering suclt systems, charlges car1 be L E ~ hoc and prone to errors. Based or1 our observations of such a process in the oil iilctustry, we believe that the systems ~~lairl ter~atlce activity would benefit greatly if the process knowledge reflecting the teleology of a ctesigrl could he captured a11d used in order to reasorl about changing requirenlerits. n11d to ciesig~l parts of systenls t,hat might be nsi~rlilar" to existing ones. In t,his paper, we ileacribe a partially inlpleiilerlted formalism called REMAP (REpresel l ta t io~~ ancf I21Airlterl;~rlce of Process knowledge) that accuniulates design process knowledge t,o manage systelrls evolutiorl. T o acconiplish this, REMAP acquires and mairltains dependerlcies arrlorlg the design decisions rriade during a prototyping process as well as the general domain-specific design rules on whicii such dependencies are based. Ttlis knowledge can then be applied to prototype refinement, systenls maintenance, arid the re-use of existing designs to construct "similarn design fragments. From Traditional to Digital Environment: An Analysis of the Evolution of Business Models and New Marketing Strategies
This paper analyzes the major trends in the business environment that shaped the business models adopted by companies and their new marketing strategies. It adopts a desktop research methodology by collecting data from previous academic papers, statistical, and analytical reports. It starts by analyzing the globalization trend that forced most of the emerging economies to liberalize and privati...
متن کاملAnalogical Reasoning: A Core of Cognition
Analogies have always been considered a central part of human intelligence and cognition. This survey offers an overview of analogical reasoning and its applications, showing that analogies are an important element of various cognitive abilities like memory access, adaptation, learning, reasoning, and creativity. Therefore, analogies can provide a basis for integrated large-scale cognitive syst...
متن کاملExplaining Effective Learning by Analogical Reasoning
Machine learning algorithms are usually considered as explicit learning strategies requiring large data samples. Contrary to these accounts, cognitive learning seems to be based on significantly less amounts of training data and occurs often in the form of implicit learning. In order to close this gap we propose to explain these discrepancies by a form of analogical learning, bridging these two...
متن کامل1987- Revised Dependency-directed Backtracking for Default Reasoning
Default reasoning is a useful inference technique which involves choosing a single context in which further inferences are to be made. If this choice is incorrect, the context may need to be switched. Dependency-directed backtracking provides a method for such context switching. Doyle’s algorithm for dependency-directed backtracking is revised to allow context switching to be guided by the call...
متن کاملModeling Analogical Problem Solving in a Production System Architecture
We propose an approach to developing models of analogical reasoning within production system architectures. Though existing theories of analogy have succeeded in capturing many aspects of analogical behavior, they have several limitations. First, the theories use empirical support that focuses almost exclusively on high-level data that illustrate the results of analogy, ignoring low-level data ...
